A lot has happened in 2023 already that is good news for the MMOT lab. We are having a hard time keeping track of all the good news! Here’s a few:
- Olivia Dyer (’22 Bucknell Cell Bio/Biochem, current Pediatric Orthopedics Research Assistant at Geisinger) published her first journal paper in Clinical Biomechanics in collaboration with Dr. Mark Seeley. Here we characterized the effects of soaking tendon in antibiotics and found no difference in material properties, which means surgeons do not have to worry about antibiotic soaking negatively affecting their surgical practices. Read the full paper here!
- In collaboration with UMASS, we recently published a paper in Bioinspiration & Biomimetics that characterized the unique tapered spiral shape of bighorn sheep horns, and showed that this shape is critical to reducing brain injury in sheep! Read the full paper here!
- Olivia and Prof. Wheatley recently traveled to the 2023 Orthopaedic Research Society meeting in Dallas to present. Check out their viral tweet here!
Here’s to more good news throughout the year!! #rolldwellers
